Russian East in Color

From 1912-1915 chemist and photographer Prokudin-Gorsky pioneered the creation of color slids and took photographic trips to various places in the Russian Empire.  His work caught the attention of Tsar Nicholas II, who sent him on various Russiand railroads to record the eastern part of the empire. this presentation highlights one such trip while placing the work within the context of Russian photographic history.
