Home Sweet Home: Dwellings in Early Shakopee

Ever wondered what it was like to live in early Shakopee? Local author and historian David Schleper will visit the Shakopee Library to present "Home Sweet Home: Dwellings in Early Shakopee." From the tipi tanka (bark lodges) of the Dakotas, to the Faribault Trading Post, to the Pond Mission House, to the beginning houses of early Shakopee, this presentation will describe some of the shanties, hewed log cabins to beginning houses with board floors and shingle roofs that formed the beginning of Sha K’ Pay, Minnesota Territory.

David R. Schleper is the Vice-President of the Shakopee Heritage Society. The Shakopee Heritage Society (SHS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the heritage for the city of Shakopee, Minnesota.
