Belle Plaine Expansion Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Please join us and our friends at the City of Belle Plaine in celebrating the soon-to-be open Belle Plaine Library expansion!
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place promptly at 2:00 PM in front of the building. Following the ceremony, guests are invited to enjoy a self-guided tour of the new addition, which will feature a new children's area, study rooms, and enhanced meeting space for partners. The entire library has also been repainted and recarpeted.
This expansion was made possible through a special grant collaboration between City staff, Library staff, and the Belle Plaine Friends of the Library. The total project cost was originally estimated at $1.5 million and is being funded through multiple sources. A significant portion comes from a nearly $750,000 Library Construction Improvement Grant awarded by the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE), which provides state funding to public libraries for renovations, new construction, and accessibility improvements. In addition, the Belle Plaine Friends of the Library have contributed more than $368,000 in Charitable Gambling funds to support the project.
