Club Book presents: Tommy Orange

Join us for an evening with novelist Tommy Orange. An enrolled member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma, he was born and raised in Oakland, California. His first book, There There, was a finalist for the 2019 Pulitzer Prize and received the 2019 American Book Award.

There There explores what it means to be an urban Indian. It features a wide cast of characters who are all Native American, but with varying degrees of connection to the culture. His work in a digital storytelling booth led him to realize that the stories of urban Natives needed to be heard, especially by other urban Natives so they would be able "to see their own stories reflected in a bigger way."

This FREE event will be held at the Prior Lake Public Library/Club Prior, located at 16210 Eagle Creek Ave. in Prior Lake. Seating is first-come first served, and doors will open 45 minutes before the program begins. Books will be available for purchase and signing. Arrive early to guarantee your spot.

Club Book is a program of the Metropolitan Library Service Agency (MELSA) and is coordinated by Library Strategies, the nonprofit consulting group of the Friends of the St. Paul Public Library. The program is made possible through Minnesota's Arts & Cultural Heritage (Legacy) Amendment.
